HOK Venue, in association with Carter-Burgess of Fort Worth, designed a major expansion and renovation of the Fort Worth Convention Center. Phase I was completed in 2002 and included the addition of new meeting rooms, a new ballroom and 56,000 square feet of exhibit hall space. Phase II was completed in 2003 and focused on the development of meeting and retail space along the midsection of the facility.
The center's exterior was redesigned as a pattern of smaller facades, resulting in a convention center that blends with its surroundings and harmonizes with the scale of downtown Fort Worth. The focal point is the 98-foot-tall Star Tower, which serves as a prominent entry lobby.
