HOK Venue's design of the Grand River Center utilizes contemporary architectural language to reflect its surrounds. Broad sweeping curves in both plan and elevation reflect the broad natural forms carved by the Mississippi River.

Interior and exterior columns are clad with native Dubuque limestone, connecting the building perceptually to the surrounding limestone river bluffs. A dramatic all-glass River Room darts out over the river like the bow of a crystal ship, providing a distinctive and flexible reception and meeting space with spectacular natural light and an uncompromised panorama of the water.
