HOK Venue has created an ongoing partnership with industry leaders. Our annual Imagine That Workshop collects leaders from all over North America to explore the future of the meeting and exhibition industry. This continuous interaction with building operators, CVB representatives, meeting planners, show contractors and educators is key to us understanding the issues facing this complex and changing market. And, the better we understand this business the better buildings we design for communities and customers.
In response to these workshops, we are developing new ideas for convention facilities, from the practical to the radical, actively exploring the possibilities. As the thought leaders in the design of these facilities, we are working to create the preferred future instead of merely reacting to outside forces.
What we are learning is that there are many more creative solutions to the emerging challenges of the industry than what has been readily apparent. Two basic realities about the future are coming into focus because of our work. First, buildings of the future will achieve and balance four important characteristics; beauty, functional excellence, spirit of place and urban integration. And second, cities that create excellent and authentic experiences for their convention and exhibition guests will succeed.
